Plum blossoms begin to bloom

KyotoLifeShrineSightseeing/Place to visit | 2018年2月25日

In Japan, Hanami means

to see cherry blossoms. Japanese people image cherry blossoms when they listen to the word " Hana".

We can see other "Hana" at Kitano-Tenmangu in Kyoto from the end of February to middle of March.

The god of study, Sugawarano Mitizane loved plum flowers.

He left a song to plum trees means " Don't forget to bloom and smell on spring after I leave here".

Because Sugawara losed the political conflict and had to leave Kyoto to Dazaifu(Fukuoka prefecture).

We can enjoy blooming and smell of many many plums at Kitano-Tenmangu today.

There are about 50 kinds of plums and 1500 trees. Color of plums are red and white.

They are the same beautiful as when Michizane loved it.
